eIdentity WebAuth is a tool whereby Colleges and departments at Colorado State University can take advantage of an easy-to-use central authentication system.
Security in two parts: Authentication and Authorization
eIdentity Webauth is an authentication-only system available to trusted web applications (called eServices) at Colorado State University. eServices are formally requested and known to the webauth system, preventing spoofing or falsification. The login form itself, as well as any processing, comes from the webauth server, keeping your eName and ePassword private from even the eService developer. If a successful login was processed, a message is sent to the eService with identifiers for various systems.
After a successful login, the eService is given identifiers matching the person who logged in. It is then up to the eService developer to decide whether or not to Authorize this valid person to use their eService.
